Project Type: Logo Client: Friends Community Church Women’s Group Challenge: Create a logo a women’s group to represent love and a Christ centered life Solution: For this logo I wanted to do something very graphic and bold yet feminine. I decided to go with a tattoo style and work the cross into the negative space in the center of the heart. The client asked that I add the verse reference around the edge. I used a light font that would help it stand out from the boldness of the heart but would also meld with the feel of the logo.
It has been awhile since I posted anything on my blog. As I have said before Gibbs Design is a part time job for me so I haven’t devoted as much time this past year as I would have liked to. My regular full time job has kept me busy with a company change (we were bought) which meant updating our marketing materials from top to bottom. Recently My wife and I did some rearranging in our game room. We wanted to move some bookshelves around to make some more room and change where the tv was located. This meant removing all the books off the book shelves and going through them. We removed a few to donate to local libraries and other places which made more room for the books we kept. It made it possible for me to have a graphic design book shelf where I can actually see what books I have. I have two binders from HOW Conferences which are full of great info I like to refer
I’m taking the plunge and starting to do some freelance on the side. Wow! Who knew there were so many little details you have to do. My plan is to blog about the experience of starting up so others out there can learn and hopefully some of the more experienced freelancers will share their knowledge. The first step in starting out is to brand yourself. No, this does not involve fire and hot irons (though it might be easier). It is coming up with a name for your company.
